Chloë Marshall is Professor of Psychology, Language and Education at UCL's Institute of Education, and is affiliated with the Deafness, Cognition and Language Research Centre at UCL.
After a first degree in the biological sciences, Chloë trained as a Montessori early years teacher. She taught in Montessori nursery schools in the UK in the 1990s. As a teacher, she became fascinated by young children's language and early literacy development, and by how language and literacy set the foundation for academic learning. She returned to university to study for an MA in linguistics and a PhD in human communication science at UCL.
Chloë's research focuses on the development of language and executive functions in children with language and literacy difficulties, and children who are deaf.
